In July 2005 we had a group from Meopham twinned with a Dutch group from Goes.  They thoroughly enjoyed the trip and got on really well together, despite the fact that one of the Dutch boys was accident prone - mainly with his Fathers Mercedes!!

Here New Petra is in the lock at Evergem, Gent, en route to Oostende.  Youngsters always lie on the hatch covers to get a better view of the world and wave at everything that moves.

The lock is always busy and there are barges to the side, in front and behind us.  The lock gates rise vertically and we always chuckle when the unsuspecting youngsters get wet passing underneath!!
